New Houses Everywhere
The programme for ushering in a new turning point of socialist rural development of Korean style was clarified at the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK held in December Juche 110(2021).
In order to implement the rural revolution programme, forces for rural housing construction were organized across the country, all necessary measures taken for supplying construction equipment, tools and materials and in particular, it was adopted as a policy to preferentially supply cement badly needed for rural construction to the cities and counties.
Besides, 100 blueprints of rural houses ensuring political nature, modernity, cultural refinement and diversity and preserving regional characteristics were completed for coastal, flat and mountainous areas respectively and introduced into housing construction.
As a result, people moved into new houses at several farms including the Solbong Farm in Kosan County of Kangwon Province in 2022, the first year of the implementation of the rural revolution programme, laying a firm foundation for rural housing construction.
On this basis, huge construction task twice as large as that of 2022 has been carried on since last year and the people's removal into new houses reported one after another.
This year witnessed the first removal into new houses at the Samgwang Stockbreeding Farm under the Rural Economy Committee of North Phyongan Province on February 9 and similar events at one hundred and tens of farms by mid-August.
People are pleased to see the houses which were built differently from last year and in various forms to retain their peculiarities even at a farm and village.
And different kinds of fruit trees and roadside trees of good species were planted around the houses, adding beauty to the new villages.
If we put together the rural houses completed after the presentation of the rural revolution programme in the new era and those nearing completion or under full-scale construction, their number exceeds 110,000 across the country.
In addition to it, rural housing construction is being accelerated in the flood-hit areas of North Phyongan, Jagang and Ryanggang provinces on which the state concentrates all efforts.
Modern houses for over 4,400 families will be built in the afflicted areas in the city of Sinuiju and Uiju County of North Phyongan Province. A few months later, the damaged areas will be turned into a model and textbook of regions becoming urbanized, modernized and civilized.
Peculiar single- and low-storied and terraced houses are built in the rural villages throughout the country according to the regional characteristics, presenting new looks as the days go by.
