Ninth April Spring People's Art Festival opens
The Ninth April Spring People's Art Festival opened in the capital city of Pyongyang on the occasion of the 113th birth anniversary of the great leader Kim Il Sung .
The festival participated in by art group members of the institutions, industrial establishments and farms from across the country will be held, divided into the categories of city and county (joint) art groups, art groups of institutions, art groups of industrial establishments and art groups of farms.
The opening ceremony was held with splendour at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre on the 10th.
Amid the ringing of the bugle call by the women's brass band of the Ministry of Railways, artistes of the national art organizations and women's unionists and school youth and children in the city danced and the participants in the festival entered the venue of the opening ceremony full of joy.
Present at the ceremony were Ju Chang Il, Department Director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, participants in the festival and Pyongyang citizens.
Minister of Culture Sung Jong Gyu, chairman of the organizing committee of the festival, made an opening address and the flag of the festival was hoisted.
An opening performance was given by artistes of the Phibada Opera Troupe, the National Folk Art Troupe and the National Acrobatic Troupe.
